THE SMITHS That Joke...n't Funny Anymore (ULTRA rare uncut paper proof artwork for the unreleased 7" front & reverse cover featuring the infamous Chicken photo featured on the back cover that was NEVER released. Rejected by Morrissey who as a vegetarian objected to the imagary and this picture never survived the Proof stage [Except this one]. The main sleeve also has differences to the released version with colour changes to the main text writing on the cover. Complete with proofing,colour bar & registration marks measuring 9" x 15". A superb piece of unreleased artwork)

It is unlikely there were more than a few left in existence and comes complete with colour bar, registration and proofing bars and measures 64cm X 35cm. Measuring 15" x 8" this is one of a few ever in existence. The difference between this issue and the commercially released sleeve we all know is 'The Smiths' is written in red and the front and back colour are in a much lighter shade with red tints. This design was personally rejected by Morrisseyhimself who ordered the change. A stunning piece of artwork that begs to be framed)

These copied black & white pages are 'works in process' of the outline drawings of Billy Fury who was the cover star used on the sleeve and are all prior to colourisation. The condition is as you would expect for a 'working item' withsellotape and markings used by the designers plus creasing and small tears on the non image paper - A true one off!!)
